500 pages/day free with an API key — automate PDF compression, OCR and translation from your own code, no daily-cap wall.
Auto-Reader OCR runs on our own GPU hardware instead of a per-page cloud bill, so the marginal cost of compressing a file is close to zero. The free tool is capped at 20 files per day per IP address to keep it sustainable — heavier or automated use moves to the API.
No. Files are processed transiently in memory and are not written to disk or retained after your compressed PDF is returned. This matches the PDPL-compliant handling used across the whole Auto-Reader OCR API — no accounts, no copies kept.
Yes. Plain compression is fast, has no page limit, and runs no OCR — and a born-digital PDF keeps its existing selectable text automatically. To make a scan searchable, tick Make the text searchable: it runs the same OCR pipeline that powers our API and redraws the recognized text as crisp, selectable vector glyphs (billed per page with an API key; an uncertain read is flagged so you can double-check). Compression stays the default, so you only pay for OCR when you ask for it.
The free tool is meant for occasional use. For batch or production workloads the same compression runs on the API, billed at 1 credit per page (about $0.001/page) with no daily cap — get a free API key for 500 pages/day (just add an email — no confirmation click).
